Our Order of Service lasts for about an hour, and follows the structure below:
Prelude..
A musical interlude, either an instrumental or a presentation by the UUCY choir.
The prelude is intended to help one to begin to sooth the soul and quiet the mind.

Chalice Lighting & Affirmation..
Intended to signify the beginning of services, and for one to publicly & openly state the affirmation for the day.
Welcome & Announcements..
This is the "Official" Welcoming of everyone to this morning's services by a designated member of the Board.  This is also the time when special announcements about UUCY or other Events of interest are highlighted for the attending congregants.
Opening Hymn & Invitation to Service..
An assigned hymn, as indicated in the 'Order of Service' is sung by the congregation. This is occasionally excluded depending on other elements of the particular service (e.g. RE Teacher recognition, etc.). The Invitation to Service is generally a selected reading, intended to frame the theme for the sermon later in the service.
Children's Story..
The Children are called to the front of the room to hear a story by the Minister, Speaker, or other 'guest reader'. Frequently, the stories are along a similar theme for that day's service / sermon. After the story, the children are then led out of the room to their R.E. Classes downstairs.
Candles of Sharing..
This is a time in our service where we can share significant joys or sorrows with the congregation. Those wishing to share something, are asked to come forward and light a candle, state their name and share their joy or sorrow. It is requested that those sharing keep their time brief. Once everyone wishing to share something are finished, there is a brief period of silent meditation, followed by a sung congregational response.
A Reading & the Offertory..
Another Reading is done in-line with the service theme, followed by the Offertory. During the Offertory, there is usually a musical interlude presented - either an instrumental performance or a performance by the UUCY choir.
Homily or Sermon..
This is the time when the Minister or speaker presents the primary talk regarding today's service theme.

Closing Hymn
The final hymn from the UU Hymnal, as defined in the 'Order of Service'.
Benediction..
The closing words by the Minister or speaker, usually intended to provide a "thought for the week", again in - line with the theme of the service.
Postlude..
A closing Musical interlude, which can be an instrumental performance or a performance by the UUCY Choir.
Recordings of the Services..
All services are recorded on CD. Many have also been taped on video film. These can be signed out of the Library in the Carriage House for listening / previewing in the comfort of your home.
Portions of some services are also posted on the Web Site under Sermon Archives - these are generally just the sermon / homily.
