Visit Often In This Place of Joy, Possibility & Hope

Be ours a religion, which, like sunshine, goes everywhere;
its temple, all space;
its shrine, the good heart;
its creed, all truth;
its ritual, works of love;
its profession of faith, divine living. ~ Theodore Parker

How Do I Get to UUCY?
Find Us Here
Is Casual Dress OK?
Our recommended dress is friendly and comfortable, just like us. While some of us prefer full suits, most visitors dress clean, covered, and casually.

Is Parking Available?
There is abundant parking in our main lot, located at 925 South George Street, York PA, 17403.

When I Arrive, Where Do I Go?  Does UUCY Have More Than One Building?
On Sunday mornings, enter in through our Sanctuary building on S. George Street. Our offices are located in the Carriage House, behind the Sanctuary. It's accessible by a small lot on S. Duke street, and staffed during scheduled hours.

Will Someone Greet Me When I Arrive?
We have several friendly faces to greet you, from our front door Greeter, who will welcome you to our Welcome Desk. The Welcome Desk team is there to answer any question you have, and get you comfortable with your visit here. They may introduce you to the Religious Education (RE) Greeter if you have children visiting with you, who may provide you with a short RE orientation.

Is Hospitality Offered After the Worship Service?
We serve fair trade coffee and tea after each service in our Lobby area. You'll get to know our friendly and diverse UUCY friends.

How Large of a Congregation is UUCY?
  • We are a congregation of ~240 adult members and friends
  • Adult Sunday attendance ranges between 90-100
  • Our religious education program has approximately 75 children and youth, ages nursery through 12th grade
  • Religious education Sunday attendance ranges between 35-50

Can I Visit With My Children?
  • Will my children stay with me during the service? They may certainly stay with you the entire service; however, Fall-Spring, children through 4th grade are invited into our adult worship service for the first 15-20 minutes and then are "sung out" to their classes.
  • Do you have a nursery?  Yes. You may drop off your children at the nursery beginning at 9:45 AM. Our nursery is located in the  sanctuary building and is staffed by adult child-care providers with security clearances and training during Sunday mornings. Nursery care is available free of charge during the service. Please visit our Welcome Desk at the Main Entrance for check-in, first.
  • Do I need to register my children if we are just visiting? No, but a greeter will probably ask you to fill out a simple visitor form so that we know something about your child.  If you begin to attend regularly, we will ask you to register your children and youth in our religious education program.
  • Will my children be welcome?  Yes! Teachers and staff will make sure your child gets to the right room. You are welcome to accompany your child to class and remain in the classroom anytime.
  • What is "R-E"?  R-E is "U-U-speak" for our children and youth Religious Education program. Our faith tradition has been a progressive advocate for children and youth religious education since the 1850's.
