The Music Committee of UUCY supports musical events that inspire the mind and spirit, celebrate life, embrace diversity, and nurture community.
Every student should have the opportunity to imagine, create and realize their full potential through access to music, music education, and accessible, inclusive performance opportunities.
By connecting and empowering music educators, professional performing artists, and arts organizations, we will maximize their impact and generate broad, participatory musical opportunities that transform the lives of our community members.
York residents – especially younger students – who are not able to develop their fullest creative musical potential because of their demographic, financial or logistical barriers can be provided with access to quality school-based and community music programming.
We intend to create a new and sustainable model for delivering high quality educational musical training and enriching experiences to all York residents, but most especially to our youth in underserved communities.
Early exposure to music and continuing, affordable access to a broad array of discipline-specific training and opportunities is essential for sparking new growth initiatives and upholding and furthering the rich musical heritage of our community.
