Community Collection Projects

You may have noticed collection bins in the UUCY Lobby. The UUCY Social Justice Committee currently partners with the following organizations that require regular collections:

  • Our Daily Bread: Collecting regularly needed food and serving items for the continued food insecurity relief that the organization provides.
  • White Rose Outreach: Collecting personal hygiene items and other basic needs items to help the organization assist the homeless community.
  • Continental Paper Grading to recycle those paper goods/items that York City’s Recycling Services no longer provides. This would ensure that various papers, paperboard, and books are properly recycled, helping us to sustain our environment.
  • The YMCA New American Welcome Center: Collecting personal hygiene items to help the organization assist the immigrant community.

To find out more about each program, and the collection needs, please continue below:

Feeding those in Need with Our Daily Bread Collections

Feeding those in Need with Our Daily Bread Collections Feeding hundreds of people for breakfast and lunch every day requires a lot of supplies and volunteers. All donations are welcome and help us uphold our consistent commitment to solving York's Food Insecurity.

Lessening our Carbon Footprint with Continental Paper Grading

York City and County recycling options no longer accept paper based goods. This is because China no longer will no longer take U.S. recycling, leaving much of the paper we still use and trash to go to landfills instead. Continental Paper Grading Company is an experienced waste paper broker specializing in waste paper management, post-industrial and post-consumer plastics, recyclable metals, and more.
