About Our Minister

The Rev. Jen Raffensperger has served as the contract minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York since 2021. A native of Bowie, Maryland, Jen earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with a concentration in mythology and folklore at the University of Maryland, and a Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School.

Jen has had a lifelong interest in and passion for the stories that humans tell to understand the world around them, which has led her to this mid-life career shift to professional ministry. Jen serves on the nominating committee of the Priestly-Kingsbury chapter of the UU Ministers Association and is trained in chaplaincy for social justice movements and in trauma response chaplaincy. She is also a trained Our Whole Lives (OWL) facilitator and member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association. She lives in York with her two cats, Desmond and Peggy.
